Tradesmen International is seeking experienced Welders in Newport News, Virginia. This is a long-term project, expected to last 2-4 years.
Hourly rate is to $27.50 an hour with $120 a day per diem

As a Journeyman Welder you will be responsible for using Stick, Mig, Tig, and Flux Core welding techniques to weld various components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Performing any combination of duties to assist workers in welding, brazing, and thermal and arc cutting activities
Moving work pieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by hand truck
Lifting, moving, and holding or clamping work pieces to table, into jigs, or into position as directed manually or by using pry bar
This particular job site will be expecting familiarity with the following processes:
All Welders will be required to pass all position, Multi-pass Butt Weld, Welder Qualification Tests prior to reporting for the first day of productive work. These tests will be in accordance with MIL-STD-248D Paragraph 5.3.3 and the following:
A. All position (Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G)) SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) process.
B. All position (Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G)) FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) process.
C. Horizontal (2G) position GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) process.
D. Air Carbon Arc Gouging proficiency test.
The Welding School will administer the following tests:
All Welding Qualification Tests in “A” (6 hours), “B” (12 hours), “C” (4 hours) above.
Visual Inspection of Welds Level I (4 hours).
Welders Vision Test (5 minutes).
Air Carbon Arc Gouging Proficiency Test (1 hour).
Multi-pass. All position fillet and butt welds using the following processes: SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), and FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding).
Heating - Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch.
Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipboard, sub-assemblies, ladders, staging, etc.).
Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.
Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
Ability to properly use fillet and butt weld gauges.

4 years of experience with Stick, Mig, Tig, Flux Core welding
Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation
High standard of integrity and professionalism
Drug free at all times, a pre-employment hair follicle drug test is required for this project
Candidates must submit to a 7 year Federal Background check
