Location: Puget Sound Naval Station, Bremeton WA

Start: ASAP

Duration: Long Term, 1+ years

1st Class Local Marine Welder Pay: $26/hr. Starting. After 1 month with great attendance, will go up to $27/hr.

All levels of Local NAVSEA welders will be considered. Pay determined off experience

Traveler Pay: $22/hr. plus $130 per diem for days worked. Must qualify as traveler to receive per diem.

*Travelers MUST have minimum of 5 years exp. in welding on Marine vessels and minimum of 2 years NAVSEA working on Naval vessels.

*Must have clean background, with no felonies last 10 years and no outstanding warrants.

*Must be US citizen or Naturalized Citizen. Will be required to show proof when picking up Navy Base badge. Acceptable documents are Current US Passport, US Birth Certificate (Original or Certified, no photo copies).

*Will be required to take a 5 panel drug screening.

*Must have Marine Osha 10 or be willing to take the class scheduled by Bremerton office.


Marine Structural NAVSEA Welder Requirements –

Must complete 6 test plates total meeting our quality standards. The plates will all be VT inspected in house and followed by a UT inspection when our QA representative is available. In addition to their test plates attendance, skill, attitude, communication & quality will be assessed. Below are details on the 6 test plates. Results & comments on selection and ranking (1st Class, 2 nd Class, 3 rd Class) will be provided to HR after UT results.

(3 plates) - FCAW (mixed gas) with 0.045” 71T-1 wire

2G position – Horizontal

3G Position – Vertical

4G Position – Overhead

(3 plates) – SMAW with 1/8” 11018

2G position – Horizontal

3G Position – Vertical

4G Position – Overhead

  • Possesses standard tools for a welder.

  • Able to work different shifts.

  • Must have good knowledge of ship board spaces.

  • Must have knowledge of weld symbols.

  • Must pass HY-80 Pipe Test 6G (SMAW)

  • Must pass Flux-core HY 80 test.

  • Must pass Aluminum Plate test.

  • Tack weld 11018 (SMAW).

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to safely hook up and operate a torch.

  • Must have knowledge of WAFs

  • Must be able to follow instructions and work well with others.
